Why it is one day this year

Krishi Mela at GKVK is traditionally a four-day fair. In early October 2026 the university announced that this year's edition would be cut to a single day because of severe drought in Karnataka. Of the 36 taluks across the six districts under the university's jurisdiction, 34 have been declared drought-hit, and the rainfall deficit has set back sowing and farm activity.

Earlier reports and stall-booking material had mentioned October dates and a four-day format. The university's own Krishimela 2026 page now lists November 13, 2026 as the single day of the fair, so plan around that date.

What to expect at Krishi Mela 2026

This year's theme, Diversified Agriculture: Next Generation, focuses on new opportunities and technologies for modern farming and on bringing young people into agriculture. The university lists these highlights:

• Climate-smart and sustainable farming practices
• Organic farming
• Soilless cultivation
• Agricultural machinery
• Agritourism
• A showcase of rural art and culture

According to news reports, the one-day programme will also include the release of new crop varieties, an awards ceremony for progressive farmers from the six districts, and special workshops. Timings, stall layout and parking arrangements are usually announced closer to the date, so check the official page before you travel.

Getting to GKVK from Zenith Suites
